One of the most common challenges visitors face in Málaga is not having up-to-date information about the opening hours of the Alcazaba and Gibralfaro Castle. As a result, many end up running out of time or arriving when the monuments are already closed.

Please note: On Mondays, the elevator that takes you directly to the Nasrid Palaces of the Alcazaba is closed.

Important: The last entry to both the Alcazaba and Gibralfaro is 45 minutes before closing time. Also, keep in mind that visiting either monument takes at least 30 minutes, and ideally around 1.5 hours if you want to enjoy the experience without rushing.
The best way to explore both monuments is to visit the Alcazaba in the morning and the Gibralfaro Castle in the afternoon, or the other way around. This allows you to take a break in between and avoid doing both visits back-to-back, which can be quite tiring — especially during the hotter months.
